Burrinja in Motion ~ Dance Festival
Burrinja in Motion

A three day mini festival of dance, featuring live performance, film screenings, interactive workshops, dancing in the dark, exhibitions and a curated food experience.

For three days in November, Burrinja comes alive with the dancing body: in motion, sensing, in action and in place.
The human body articulates quite unlike any other form of communication. From the purely physical to the playful, the abstract to the absurd, the gestural to the pedestrian, the body in motion has the capacity to communicate things we ourselves do not know yet.
Through live, screen, stage and sensory mediums, Burrinja moves is a fascinating look at the power and potential of the dancing body.

For anyone who wants to dance without limits or judgment, NLNL is the original dance in the dark movement proven to make you feel better.

8.00 PM ~ Spear (Bangarra's Dance Film)

A foot in each world. A heart in none.

Acclaimed Artistic Director and Choreographer Stephen Page brings Bangarra Dance Theatre’s outstanding dance work SPEAR to the screen. Striking and original, Page weaves story through dance to deliver an extraordinary cinematic experience in his feature film debut.

Using gesture and dance, with minimal dialogue, SPEAR follows a young Aboriginal man named Djali (Hunter Page-Lochard) from North East Arnhem Land to the streets of Sydney on his quest to understand what it means to be a man with ancient traditions in a modern world.

Featuring the brilliant Bangarra dancers and an evocative David Page score that combines traditional and contemporary music, SPEAR is an intimate journey with one of Australia’s most celebrated artists and one of the most affecting and spiritually resonant films of the year.

"BeatStorm is a collision between a video game and a movement performance. Motion capture devices track and project two players into a virtual world in real-time as they travel along a fast-moving path set to high-energy electronic dance music evocative of video gaming. In each level, players must dodge a barrage of obstacles and collect items by physically moving; there is a one-to-one correspondence of movement between the real and the virtual.

Tickets - $80
