The transition to secondary school is a pivotal time for young people. Lights Up is designed specifically for students aged 11 to 14, providing a dynamic environment where they can channel their energy, express their individuality, and take their acting skills to the next level.

At Dee's Drama Classes, we move beyond the basics. In this weekly class, we challenge students to dig deeper into the craft of performance, helping them build the technical skills and creative confidence needed to shine.

What Happens in Lights Up?

This class is all about extension and exploration. We create a space where students can experiment with new styles and techniques while solidifying their understanding of theatre.

During the term, your child will:

• Extend Acting Skills: We tackle more complex scripts and scenes, encouraging students to make bold choices and commit fully to their characters.
• Master Improvisation: Quick thinking is key. Through improv games and exercises, students learn to react in the moment, support their scene partners, and embrace the unexpected.
• Develop Vocal Technique: Students learn how to project their voices safely and effectively, ensuring they can be heard and understood in any performance space.
• Explore Movement & Dance: Acting is a full-body experience. We incorporate movement and dance to help students understand physical expression and stage presence.
• Understand Theatre Conventions: Students gain a deeper appreciation for the art form by learning the rules of the stage and how to break them creatively.

Lights Up is not just about learning lines; it is about learning life skills. Through collaboration and performance, students develop resilience, empathy, and the ability to present themselves with confidence in any situation.
