Burrinja Climate Change Biennale #4
Sat 5 Sep-Sat 17 Oct | Burrinja Theatre
Three thought-provoking programs co-curated by Burrinja, Yarra Ranges Regional Museum and the RMIT Regenerative Futures Institute.
A special feature of the program will be a newly commissioned work for flute, oboe, bassoon, violin, viola and cello by Los Angeles-based Australian composer Anton Manuel, written specifically to reflect environmental beauty and hope for the future. This will be performed alongside Inventi arrangements for sextet of Respighi’s Pines of Rome & Fountains of Rome, as well as iconic Australian composers Ross Edwards and Caerwen Martin.
Inventi Ensemble is one of Australia’s leading contemporary chamber music groups, celebrated for innovative performances that blend classical repertoire with new works, improvisation, multimedia, and cross-genre collaboration. Founded in 2014 by Artistic Directors Ben Opie and Melissa Doecke, the award-winning ensemble has built a reputation for dynamic performances in venues ranging from intimate spaces to major concert halls. Committed to education and community engagement, Inventi delivers workshops and programs that make classical music accessible to diverse audiences. Their acclaimed recordings include 1001 Nights (2024), which debuted at No. 2 on the ARIA Classical Charts, alongside several charting releases showcasing Australian composers.
