Prue's background is in science, design, art retail and sculpture, then whilst studying for her MFA, she became enthralled with space and light with a focus on installation.
Currently she is pushing pigments to create immersive abstract fields of colour. Scale is used to create an immersive experience that considers transience. Her inspiration is the atmospherics of light with constant inspiration from the studio's southerly view offering large skies, shifting cloud formations and spectacular sunsets.
Prue uses the luminosity and slow-drying qualities of oils to create fields of subtly merging colour that, with multiple thin layers of a reduced palette and feathering techniques, she blends and blurs colour transitions, attempting to capture fleeting moments of light. Pastel works are often used as studies for her larger paintings to test colour combinations and layering.

"The rationale for my work is that words and thoughts dominate our lives, daily planning, navigating emotions and expectations, understanding meanings, setting goals, striving generally! My aim is to deliver a respite from this thinking, giving a light, uplifting experience, a floating calm intervention that hopefully allows for a reset, a space for contemplation and just being."
