Jessie Yvette Journoud-Ryan's sculptural use of repurposed ceramics and vintage crockery draws from a decade of Fine Arts training in Melbourne and an education at a National Ceramics School in France.
Inspired by her natural surroundings in the Hills, Jessie creates bird sculptures using her own handmade ceramics, antique ware, steel, and wax for lost-wax casting.
Visitors will complete a circuit of spaces and have access to multiple artwork displays, including feature mosaic walls and floors, and to the garden with views of Port Phillip Bay. The large working studio space will reflect the creative process and visitors will be able to observe a piece in the making over the duration of the weekend.
As a French Australian artist and Fine Arts educated on both shores, my sculptural work reflects personal narratives of belonging, place, nature, and cultural heritage. Nature is a great source of inspiration for me, a personal place of belonging. Native birdlife fascinates me and resonates deeply with me, providing ample reflection and generating creativity.
