Jamie’s primary focus is the exploration of movement, flow, and his response to nature through abstract painting. He has also composed music for over 35 years, and his studio practice brings these two disciplines together.
Both music and painting function as creative spaces for meditative contemplation, as well as conduits for exploring chance and the unintentional elements that emerge from the subconscious creative process.
Jamie’s workspace incorporates a recording studio—an intimate environment for music creation—alongside an outdoor area where he paints. His artworks are largely created on flat surfaces and are produced outdoors, often using syringes, leaf blowers, and other unconventional tools. The space also features films and meditation music, inviting contemplation and offering an immersive visual and aural experience.

“I walk a lot in the afternoons, especially this year after undergoing intense treatment for cancer. Such a journey naturally leads one to question values, intentions, and motivations. It invites reflection, a taking stock of life as it has been lived. Everything can feel limitless, and yet fragile at the same time."
"I create because it has always given me a sense of completeness — a way of escaping inward, of exploring the self. To paint, to make music, to cook, to make — these acts ground me. Everything else rises and falls, but when I create, I am fully in the present. Life becomes immediate, and the moment is all there is."
