Gerard’s roots are those of a tinkerer, drawn to experiment with materials and mark-making to uncover what lies within their expression. His practice is driven by an enduring fascination with time, gravity, matter, and the condition of awareness from within, forces that shape both the world and our place in it.

He creates charcoal drawings and illuminated metal works where time is visible in the dynamic marks, traces of duration and records of presence, extending the work into an experience where light reveals the quiet weight of being.

Since graduating in Fine Art at RMIT University, Russo has exhibited in galleries across Australia and internationally. His work resonates with collectors seeking an existential acknowledgment of being and an intimate encounter with the passage of time.

Gerard shares a studio with his partner, Elizabeth Gleeson, on a property bordered by a creek and overlooking a fern gully. Visitors are welcomed into the workshop, gallery, and studio spaces, where many artworks are displayed for viewing and purchase. The experience offers a deeper insight into Gerard's diverse processes, with the opportunity to discuss collections and commissions in person.

“My work has become a meeting place of time, gravity, matter and awareness. Driven by the exploration of materials, mark making and light, I aim to create work that evokes a quiet power through subtle narratives and grace."
