Strong structural shapes, a sense of story, and a sense of drama contribute to the evocation of nature in Trish's conceptualised landscape painting.
Awareness of our traditional lands informs her work as she explores symbolically marks of both intrusion and unification on ancient land. She is inspired by found textures and shapes from surfaces in both the natural and man-made environments. Trish is now working on applying these themes and others in gel printing, oil transfer drawing and collage.
Trish’s studio is shared in collaboration with fellow artist and friend Jenny Rowe in Tecoma. Trish was the winner of the Swinburne Innovation Award at Burrinja’s Chrysalis exhibition in 2025. This work has led to further exploration of collage, oil transfer drawing and gel printing techniques. Much of Trish’s art is inspired by the surface patterns found in asphalt road marks and other manmade surfaces. These are large paintings that show strong structural shapes reinterpreted into landscape designs that invite the viewer’s imagination and evolving stories. Trish’s underlying concepts always consider the marks of human intrusion on ancient lands.
As an artist, Trish reflects that it is impossible not to be affected by world politics and social upheaval. She now extends these themes through collage, oil transfer drawing and gel printing, including recent works on symbols of hope.

“My work is a combination of painting/mixed media, printmaking and collage techniques, focusing on abstract, conceptualised landscape design. I have been experimenting more this year with collage and accidental print images from gel plate and oil transfer drawing, combined with painting on canvas. I look at man-made shapes and textures and transform them in my art to evoke a sense of nature and the natural environment, always mindful of what was placed on indigenous land. Artistic experimentation with collage, layered surfaces, intuition and using technical experience to inform the creative process is also very important in my work."
