Join the community of the hills in celebrating the fourth annual Winter Solstice Lantern Parade: Saturday June 19, 2010 in Belgrave Main Street: assemble from 5.00pm, parade starts at 5.30pm.
The Lantern Parade is a family and community participation event – so make your own lanterns or join in with your local school or community group to make a big, bright lantern to celebrate together.
The Belgrave Lantern Parade includes music, circus, performance, drumming and lots more in the streets.

Come and express yourself with your lanterns, your outfits, with your community group, with your sense of creativity and your festive spirit.

The parade starts at HAYES CAR PARK (near the CAMEO cinema) this year!
See the MAP link for details on our new assembly and starting point in 2010, following Blacksmiths Way along the railway line up to Main Street Belgrave.
Event organisers ask that everyone attending consider the environment by walking, riding, catching the train or car pooling to make this a truly ‘people friendly' event.

The Lantern Parade is a celebration of our rich and diverse creative community, bringing harmonious warmth to the streets of Belgrave in the midst of winter - acknowledging our unique environment and the seasons. Belgrave will rejoice through light, song, art and performance this Winter solstice when the Lantern Parade again reclaims the Main Street for the people!
The aim of Belgrave Community Arts Partnership this year is about getting as many people involved creatively as possible, with everything from large festival group lanterns to smaller lanterns, workshops, music, circus performance, drumming and more. Everyone is encouraged to plan creative costumes for the night.
