Coming up in 2010-2011…

JENNY REDDIN

GENTLY DOES IT
25 August – 26 September

This exhibition will showcases a group of Jenny Reddin's recent works. Whilst many of the works have an abstract landscape feel, they could equally suggest partially buried bodies, torsos suspended in space, partially concealed to create tension and mystery.

Looking at Jenny’s work, you will rarely, if ever see brush marks. In fact, looking closely, the work often looks as if it has been sculpted. She uses a combination of techniques and materials to create beautiful textures and contrasts. Alternatively, she builds up the surface of the canvas by applying layer upon layer of whisper thin washes of transparent colour.

When asked about her inspiration, Jenny said, “The landscapes are very much about where I live and the drama I see around me – the explosion of the sunrise every morning over the hill; gale force winds ripping 100 year out trees out of the ground; new life in spring. They are also about the sensuousness and flow of the hills and valleys. I have always seen figures in the landscape”. Jenny and her family survived the Feb 7th bushfires last year and saved their home and Jenny’s studio.

Jenny Reddin has reached a new stage of maturity that has enabled her to pull together this exciting group of works. She is certainly an artist to keep an eye out for and to collect and she is currently represented in collections throughout Australia, Asia and USA.

Jenny will also be part of the Yarra Valley Open Studios Program on the weekend 17th to the 19th September. Her work is also permanently available to view at the offices of Reddin Partners, 108/685 Bourke Rd, Camberwell.

EMBER FAIRBAIRN-RAMSEY -
30 September – 31 October

To Ember, creating art is a communion with creation, it is a meditation where one loses self and merges into all that is and all that is yet to be. The artwork can also be a contemplation, rather than a mental, conceptual idea of artmaking.

To a large degree it is the process and the form which shapes the content of the work, employing colour, mark making , symbol and shape through oil paint, and texture via the encaustic process.

Ember has exhibited since 2000, selling work and completing commissions. Prior to which she trained in Queensland. She has sold work in Australia, U.S.A, Canada

JENNY DAVIS
2 February - 1 March 2011

Jenny Davis is a professional artist working from her studios in Yarra Valley, Victoria and Paris, France. Jenny works in many different disciplines including: oil painting, collage, sculpture, photography, installation, video, sound and virtual worlds. Jenny’s work has been shown in many countries including: Australia, Germany, Spain, France and USA, and is held in collections in Australia, UK, Europe and the U.S.A.

“Most of my abstract painting is about the creative process, mingled with the essence of memories, ideas and encounters …the end result is never in my mind because my job is to discover new things as I’m doing. My arts practice is forever static, moving, expanding, shifting in new directions as I experiment with varies materials, techniques and technology. This allows me to express myself in a new way. Travel has had the biggest influence on my work. I can no longer stay with only abstraction to express myself. Just as… I can no longer ignore what goes on around me in the world” -
